OUR CONNECTION TO STEFAN
From fan to a friend, it was a mutual love for music that first connected Marianne Schoch, QWSTION Product Manager with Stefan Cecere, Graphic Designer and Band Member of Harvey Rushmore & the Octopus – which happened to be one of Marianne’s favourite Swiss bands. While getting to know Stefan in his diverse roles: musician, graphic designer, lover of the great outdoors, Marianne was struck by the natural authenticity infusing everything he touches.
"Be it the signature style of his corporate graphic works, the psychedelic artworks he provides for his band, or watching him living his life, reduced to the essentials: it’s always 100% him," she says. So we were excited to hear what he thought of our Roll Pack Bananatex® in Limestone, which has accompanied him from the stage to meetings, and through long walks in nature. Here we glean his approach to buying less but better, making melodies, and keeping things simple.
WHAT LED YOU TO WHAT YOU DO TODAY?
Having an open and honest mind is the thing which has directed me the most along the paths I’ve taken. It took some time to arrive at this point as I’ve tried a lot of different things. I still want to try and see so many more things which might guide me again in another directions.
WHAT DO YOU CARE ABOUT IN LIFE?
Music is a very big part of my life. It is one of the art forms which touches me the most on a personal level. I love the fact that it can connect people in so many different ways – something the world needs, in my eyes. And on a more general level, the simplicity of things.
HOW DO YOU ADDRESS THESE WITH YOUR WORK?
I try to do things as simply as possible. That goes for graphic designs, videos, images or just small bit of melodies and music I create. Also being able to accept that you can’t be proficient in everything. Let people help you, create things together.
WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR IN THE THINGS YOU BUY?
I try to reduce the number things I own or buy. So I look for things which are long-lasting, sustainable and useful. A important thing is to support people around me and support their work, whether it’s a one-person jewellery maker, the organic farm on the city fringe, or the band from the other town.
