I’d like a little more internal organization, just one more pocket. But I love the detachable protective compartment – I’ve been removing it (including the laptop) for hikes in the forest.

OUR CONNECTION TO MERET
Meret has made a name for herself in footwear design, with more than a decade of experience working with international brands. Several of QWSTION’s team members have owned shoes designed by Meret – and chances are, you, our dear reader, have, as well.
But that’s not our only connection to her: She met our co-founder Christian during their studies at Zurich’s University of Art and Design and they’ve been a couple ever since, making her the very first critic we’ve had the pleasure of receiving feedback from.
With a major in both Textile- and Industrial Design, her expertise in materials, craft and manufacturing processes runs deep and has delivered valuable input again and again.
WHAT LED YOU TO WHAT YOU DO TODAY?
I’ve always followed my interests and passions and I feel lucky to always have had people around me that gave me the opportunity to grow and learn from, to be who I am. And I always keep my eyes open, inspiration for me is everywhere.
WHAT DO YOU CARE ABOUT IN LIFE?
For me it’s all about relationships. Relationships with the people close to me, my family, the people and companies I work with.
I also deeply care about nature, especially forests – and in recent years gardening has strongly influenced this relationship.
HOW DO YOU ADDRESS THESE WITH YOUR WORK?
I see strong relationships as the foundation to create great products, and these take time to build – which is why I’ve always pursued longterm collaborations.
Over the years, manufacturing partners have become friends and friends have become collaborators in some of my projects. My work is part of my life, so I’d say it’s all fluid, work and play.
If you release more colorways I’m tempted to buy another one.
WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR IN THE THINGS YOU BUY?
For me durability and quality are key in the things I buy. I love to have my everyday goods for as long as possible without having to think about them. Another important argument is versatility (style and function), I usually wear the same bag or garments for a forest hike as well as for a business trip.
