GOING SLOW,
TRAVELING LIGHT

TEXT & PHOTOGRAPHY BY
ANNA DOROTHEA KER

As much of the world tentatively opens up, and the prospect of taking a summer holiday further afield (approached with care and caution) becomes a possibility, the question of how we travel comes to the fore once again. The first trip after a prolonged pause offers an opportunity to rethink what it means to travel light: from our state of mind to our method of transport to what we bring. Here we are a few thoughts on how the QWSTION team is gearing up to journey responsibly.

SMALL FOOTPRINT
Keeping our ecological footprint minimal begins with our chosen destination – opting for less frequented places, preferring the train over flying and offsetting our emissions, or taking fewer but longer journeys spent in a single destination. A slow approach to travel can inform all stages of a trip: Arriving with plenty of research on local custom, etiquette, and language (and current health regulations), supporting independent businesses and eating as seasonally as possible, and choosing to accumulate experiences over new possessions. Plenty of inspiration awaits here.

LIGHT LUGGAGE
The fewer the possessions, the freer the mind – we’re big fans of hand luggage only (our new Bananatex® Totes or super lightweight BioLight Bags make for the perfect cabin companion), paired with compartmentalisation thanks to smaller accessories and our ultralight Tyvek care pouches to keep things compact. As for the enduring folding vs. rolling debate, we'll defer to the foremost authority on space-saving: Marie Kondo. Wherever you’re dreaming of, we wish you a safe, fulfilling and rejuvenating season ahead.
